“Super-fun, exceptionally talented, and inexplicably flying under the radar…” - Portland Radio Project

Carley Baer is a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, performer, music educator, and founder of the Bad Song Club. Her original songs—built on a foundation of folk, decorated with elements of 90s pop and Tin Pan Alley jazz, and delivered with a light-hearted charisma—have led audiences members to proclaim that, “[i]t's impossible to walk away from one of her performances without a smile on your face.”

Spreading the music

After spending over a decade traveling, performing, and writing upwards of 100 songs a year, Carley went back to school to finish her degree in music education at Portland State University. Her Undergraduate Honors Thesis was devoted to dismantling the mental blocks that keep songwriters from developing their full potential (read the paper here). The experience provided her with mountains of new insights into the artistic process, and a previously-undiscovered passion for helping people tap into their own creativity. As she says, “Everyone has music inside them; it’s just a matter of finding a way to let it out.”
